Earlier this year, Democratic Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal announced that she and others would be leading a series of "Resistance Labs" designed to train activists how best to counter the Trump administration's myriad assaults on democracy.
Relying on the work of "experts who have researched and studied democratic backsliding around the world," the Resistance Lab training sessions examine "how non-violent movements around the world have responded to leaders who seize power in authoritarian ways and the most effective tools and tactics to utilize in these moments."
Last week, Fox News host Jesse Watters did a segment in which he claimed that Jayapal's Resistance Labs are part of an effort to create an army of left-wing foot soldiers to wage a rebellion against the the Trump administration.
The clip from Watters' program was played on the Christian nationalist "FlashPoint" program on Monday night, prompting former Rep. Allen West to call for Jayapal to be charged with treason and sedition and kicked out of Congress.
"The Democratic Party, these progressive socialist Marxist communists, they are the party of projection," West said. "What they're trying to do is project on others exactly what they are guilty of themselves."
"We are trying to get back to having constitutional governance and they want to undermine that," he continued. "When I look at someone like Congresswoman Jayapal, she's guilty of treason and sedition. How could a person like that be sitting there as a member of the United States House of Representatives? She should be removed. That's a high crime and misdemeanor, if ever [there was one] because she supposedly took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."
"The real Brownshirts, the real Gestapo is antifa, is Black Lives Matters, is all of these masked-up left-wing groups that are going out there enacting violence," West declared. "We have people on the left who want to go out and assassinate ICE agents. Oh, by the way, just a year after we had a former president and presidential candidate that someone tried to assassinate. These people need to be stopped and they need to be arrested."
