More ways to give

By including a gift to People For in your estate plans, you’ll help secure the long-term future of our work and ensure the next generation of Americans will enjoy the rights and freedoms that this country was founded to protect. Gifts to our affiliate People For the American Way Foundation also entitle your estate to a federal estate tax charitable deduction.

There are many ways to include a gift to People For or the Foundation in your estate plans, including a simple bequest, making us a beneficiary of your retirement or investment account, as well as gifts of real estate, endowments, and more.

For more information and details on leaving the estate gift that’s right for you, please contact People For’s Planned Giving Department at 202-467-2342 or [email protected].

If you need assistance in creating a will, People For is proud to have partnered with FreeWill, which provides members a free and easy way to create a will. Simply visit FreeWill’s website to get started.

Gifts of stock are one of the most tax-smart ways to make a big impact. When you make a gift of appreciated securities, you gain big benefits, including bypassing capital gains tax on the appreciation and being eligible for a charitable income tax deduction for the full amount of the gift if you itemize your taxes. The full value of the security is used by People For the American Way Foundation to fight authoritarianism.

To make a gift, simply provide your account manager with the following information:

Broker and Address:
The Northern Trust Company
Trust Department
50 S. LaSalle Street
Suite B-2
Chicago, IL 60603

Attention: Frida De Santiago

DTC Number: 2669

Account Name and Number:
People For the American Way Foundation

In order to receive a tax-receipt, please let us know when you transfer securities.

For more information about gifts of appreciated securities, call Gerry Hoch at 202-467-2336 or email [email protected].

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are an increasingly popular investment vehicle for investors who may be looking to contribute to their favorite charitable organizations while also realizing the benefits of this investment type.

Your contribution can help support the work of the People For the American Way Foundation (our 501c(3)).

Simply log into your Donor Advised Fund providers’ login pages and recommend People For for a charitable disbursement. Our EIN #, if requested by your fund manager, is: 13-3065716. To designate from an alternate fund, please reach out to your Donor Advised Fund provider.

As a member of People For’s President’s Council, you’ll provide the leadership and vision necessary to overcome and counter damages done by MAGA Republicans, while helping protect freedom, justice, and democracy.

By making a commitment of $1,000 or more per year (the average donation is $2,500), President’s Council members provide crucial funding to expose the lies and agenda of the MAGA movement, while combating its attempts to regain power.

Your gift allows People For to respond quickly whenever our rights and liberties are under attack. As part of People For’s President’s Council, you’ll have special access to:

  • VIP events with People For leaders, Members of Congress, and other political luminaries.
  • Intimate gatherings with President and CEO Svante Myrick to hear his vision for our democracy, plus special briefings from select staff to speak to the issues that matter most to you.
  • Our monthly newsletter with special notes from President Myrick.
  • Insider reports illuminating the important work of People For the American Way.

To join the President’s Council, fill out this online form with your donation.

An IRA charitable rollover, also known as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), allows you to lower your tax bill by contributing money directly from your traditional IRA to a charity.

Federal law allows people age 70½ or older to make direct transfers up to $105,000 per year per person to charitable organizations from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without the withdrawal being treated as taxable income. The withdrawal can be counted toward your Required Minimum Distribution.

Remember to consult a tax expert for specific questions, as state laws may vary.

We can only mail an acknowledgement to you if your name and address are provided along with the check or if you notify us about your gift.

For more information, please contact the Planned Giving Department at 202-467-2342 or [email protected].

Matching gift programs are a type of corporate philanthropy where companies match their employees' donations to eligible nonprofit organizations.

The match rate can vary depending on the company's policy, but it is usually 1:1, meaning that the company will match the employee's donation dollar-for-dollar.

Some companies may offer a higher match rate, such as 2:1 or 3:1, or may have a minimum or maximum donation amount that they will match.

Matching gift programs are beneficial for both the nonprofit organization and the employee donor. The nonprofit receives additional funds while the employee's donation goes further, potentially doubling or tripling in value.

We can only mail an acknowledgement to you if your name and address are provided along with the check or if you notify us about your gift.
