MAGA podcaster and author Eric Metaxas hosted “my pillow guy” Mike Lindell on his “Eric Metaxas Show” Wednesday, where he promoted Lindell’s products as well as his candidacy for governor of Minnesota.
Earlier this month, President Donald Trump endorsed Lindell, who has spent a good bit of his time and fortune since the 2020 election promoting Trumpish claims about election machines and election fraud. Dominion Voting Systems (now called Liberty Vote) filed a 1.3 billion defamation suit against Lindell but recently settled the case several months after the company was bought by a former Republican election official. Lindell has lost defamation suits brought by a former Dominion employee and another election machine company, Smartmatic.
Metaxas and Lindell claimed that documents Trump released along with his widely disputed July 17 speech about election vulnerabilities had vindicated Lindell’s claims. “We have broke through the biggest coverup,” Lindell said. “That’s already a win. We broke through the biggest coverup of the biggest potential crime the world has ever seen, which would have been taking the United States without firing a shot.”
Metaxas denounced in graphic terms what he described as the mainstream media’s lack of interest in the truth of Trump and Lindell’s claims about the 2020 election:
Listen, when people say—I want to smack ‘em when they say, ‘We don’t want to relitigate the 2020 election.’ It’s kind of like, ‘Oh, yeah, your family was raped and murdered, but you know what? Let it go. Let’s move forward.’ Ladies and Gentlemen, if our votes were stolen, if it’s even half true, if it’s 10 percent true, if you’re any kind of a human being, you need to care about that. You need to care about fixing that. If you don’t, you are part of the problem. And the left-wing mainstream media, they clearly do not care. They don’t want justice.
Metaxas declared that “the MAGA base” is “waking up and saying ‘We’ve got to step up. We’ve got to prevent communism from destroying the country. We’re at that point, obviously.”
Lindell is leading in most recent polls about the August 11 primary, though not by nearly as much as he claimed when he told Metaxas that he is up by 25 points. His closest competitor is Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth. A June poll showed Lindell trailing in a general election matchup with Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who is leading in the Democratic primary.
Days after Trump’s social media endorsement, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported that Lindell is registered to vote in Texas, not Minnesota.
Metaxas and Lindell devoted a good bit of time to promoting Lindell’s mattresses and towels, urging people to support both Lindell and Metaxas by using a code that would give Metaxas a commission. Metaxas told his listeners that buying Lindell’s stuff is a way to save America:
