'It's All Very Scientific': Is The Government Going To Declare 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' A 'Diagnosable Mental Illness'?

Last week, right-wing broadcaster Mary Walter interviewed psychiatrist Carole Lieberman about her effort to convince the American Psychiatric Association to classify "Trump Derangement Syndrome" as an official illness and add it to the organization's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

"I put together a classification for mild, moderate, and severe TDS and I'm going to be bringing it into, walking it—literally walking it in—to the American Psychiatric Association very soon," Lieberman announced.

"Each level has approximately 8 to 10 symptoms and you have to have certain number in each category to be able to qualify," she explained. "For example, a mild case would include people who throw shoes at the television set when Trump comes on, or have a meltdown when they hear a song that is associated with Trump, like YMCA. The moderates—and there are many more symptoms, I can't really get into all of them—but for moderates, TDS has taken over more of their lives. And for severe, it's even at a higher level."

Lieberman claimed that people like Rosie O'Donnell, Mary Trump, Jimmy Kimmel, "would-be assassins," and "people who attack Teslas because of Elon Musk" would be classified as having "severe TDS" and therefore require psychotherapy so they can "work on the problems in them that make them hate Trump."

"For men, it has to do with men who have low self-esteem and they are envious of Trump because Trump has the stereotypically all the things that a man—an alpha male—would and should have," Lieberman said. "He has a great education, Ivy League education. He was successful before he became president. He's become president two times. He has a gorgeous wife. He has a wonderful family. All of these things that these men who have low self-esteem either don't have or don't have enough of or don't feel like they'll ever have. So somehow Trump is to blame for their not having these things."

"The women who have TDS are women who have problems with men, starting with the pussy hats," she continued. "So you would work with them to help them; Trump would be the man, like the worst man, the man that they would imagine it would be worse to be married to, because he's an alpha male and because that's what they can't deal with. So you would work with them to try to get them to not have so much hatred towards men, perhaps have good relationships with men. And so you're really not working on the [hatred toward Trump] because if you get into a conversation about like, 'Why do you hate Trump?' They tell you, 'Well, he does this, and this, and this.' It's not about that. Whatever they would say, whatever executive orders they might say, or whatever political thing or sociological thing, whatever they would say that he did that is bad; it's not really about that. It's about their feelings towards him as a man."

On Tuesday, Walter appeared on "The Todd Starnes Show" where, in addition to declaring that liberals are "usually ugly," she claimed that Lieberman is also working to convince Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. to make TDS a "diagnosable mental illness."

"[Lieberman] is actually helping with classifying TDS as an official diagnosable disease," Walter stated. "HHS Secretary Kennedy is working on doing this to make it a diagnosable mental illness."

"These people are mentally ill," Walter continued. "What do we do with these people? Can we fill up some empty malls in Jersey with them? Like instead of insane asylums, we get like a little mental health hospital going on and we just fill up the old Claire's and the old Bed, Bath and Beyonds and we put beds in there and we house people who are infected with the woke mind virus."

"I love this idea," replied Starnes. "Honestly, because these people, they need to be in some sort of a hospital, some sort of a home. They need professional help is what they need."

"Yes, 100 percent. Exactly," Walter agreed. "That's what Secretary Kennedy is trying to do. They're looking into doing this. And this woman [Lieberman] actually helped form the three levels of TDS and what the signs and symptoms are, what it constitutes. It's all very scientific. We joke about it, but it's actually really scientific."
