Jack Hibbs and Kenneth Copeland have a lot in common. They are both right-wing Christian nationalist megachurch pastors who have been tireless champions of President Donald Trump.
As such, it was rather surprising to see Hibbs attack Copeland as a "false teacher" during a recent episode of his podcast.
Hibbs claimed that Copeland, along with fellow "prosperity gospel" preachers Joel Olsteen and Benny Hinn, are "a danger to the flock of God" and precisely the sort of "false prophets" and "charlatans" that the Bible warns Christians to avoid.
"How about Kenneth Copeland?" Hibbs said. "He's like the chief goofball of them all."
"Kenneth Copeland," Hibbs continued, "I think if you look him up right now, he's personally worth $900 million. It's OK if you're worth $900 million if you're Tom Cruise making movies. But if you're worth $900 million because grandma's been sending you her welfare check, I don't know; you should be arrested."
