Christian nationalist MAGA pastor and right-wing conspiracy theorist Lorenzo Sewell delivered a guest sermon at Evangel Temple Church in Mississippi last weekend, where he urged the congregation to take a stand against Islam, LGBTQ rights, and the "demonic Democratic Party" by voting in the midterm elections.
The central core of Sewell's message was that "political influence is spiritual warfare" because it is "the calling of the church [is] to make the rules" for all of society.
"God is not expecting the world to lead the world," Sewell preached. "God is expecting the church to lead the world. It takes a unified church to lead a divided world. We can't expect the world to teach us."
"The Bible says that there was a man by the name of Samuel," he continued. "The Bible says that Samuel went—please hear me—he went to go select a king and the first king he selected—please write this down—was a king that lost his authority because he didn't listen to the prophet."
"Politicians are called to listen to the church," Sewell declared. "Saul did not listen to the prophet. A politician is nothing but a painter and what a politician ought to do is listen to us on how to paint, where to paint, and what to paint. Are you hearing me today? Their job is to listen to who? The church."
