“Prophet” and MAGA propagandist Kent Christmas hosted a July 26 “Revival at Ryman” at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville with a cast of characters that included MAGA “prophet” Hank Kunneman and FlashPoint’s Gene Bailey. Christmas, who talked about the event with ElijahStreams’ Steve Shultz on Aug. 3, prophesied that God is getting ready to kill a bunch of people:
“And the days are going to come," said the Lord, "where I'm going to mute the mouth of the evil one. And those that have made covenant with the devil, I'm going to remove them." And the Lord said, "It's a wave, not just of judgment." But God said, "Also, when the glory of the Lord is released, death is going to hit the wicked kingdom." And He said, "The gallows that have been built to hang the Gospel on are going to be reversed." God said, "I'm going to reverse it, and I'm going to hang those that built it [the gallows] on their own judgment.”
Purporting to be speaking on behalf of God, Christmas said God is going to judge and purify the church, including “every woke preacher, every seeker-friendly preacher, and every church that kicked Me out and stuck the Holy Ghost in the back room, and was ashamed of speaking in tongues and praising the Lord.” God is also apparently preparing to go after singers and authors whose creative output does not please him.
What’s remarkable about Christmas claiming that God is preparing to massacre “wicked” people is just how often Christmas makes such a prophecy. Here’s a sampling from the past five years:
- In July 2021, Christmas declared at a “Let Freedom Ring” rally that “there is a death release from God that's getting ready to hit the wicked—I'm not talking about spiritual death; I'm talking about natural death—that God is going to begin to kill wicked men and women in this nation that have stood and opposed the authority of the Holy Ghost.” He also claimed that Trump won the 2020 election “by about 80 million votes.”
- In September 2021, Christmas declared, “God is loosing an angelic army from Heaven that’s going to invade the Earth. Hear me. You’re going to see leaders drop dead, not just the United States. They’re gonna drop dead in Australia. They’re gonna drop dead in Canada. They’re gonna drop dead in Russia, in the Philippines, in Los Angeles, California, in New York City. God is gonna say, ‘I’ve had enough, says the Lord.’…And God said, ‘Before I get done, there are going to be so many dead bodies in America that they will lay in the streets because there will not be room in funeral homes to handle the dead that’s fixin’ to happen. God is serious!”
- In June 2022, Christmas said God told him that he is going to release a “death angel” on the Earth—the same one God deployed against ancient Egypt—to take out “evil leaders” in public office, saying “They ain’t gonna be voted out, they’re gonna be removed out.” Two months later, Christmas prophesied that the death angel would be released at the end of 2022.
- In April 2024, Christmas told viewers to be encouraged because God is going to start “removing” wicked people. “They’re not gonna be voted out. I believe you’re gonna see some people begin to die, and God is going to replace them with godly men.”
- In January 2025, Christmas declared that God was getting ready to “remove” former President Joe Biden for awarding philanthropist George Soros with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He said God told him at the time, “You're going to begin to see wicked men begin to pass from the Earth because I am doing something in the new day by the spirit of the Lord to bring freedom unto the House of God."
- That same month, Christmas told Shultz, “There is an angel of death that God is gonna loose in this nation…against wicked men and women.” God, he said, is getting ready to “remove” wicked leaders who “have made an alliance with the enemy.”
In 2023, Christmas used a sermon to call for Christians to show the same kind of fervor for their faith as Muslim terrorists who were “willing to strap bombs to their chest,” thundering, “God give us some men and women that will get a hold of some passion in their spirit and say, 'I will lay down my life for the Gospel!’ This thing was born in blood." He later falsely complained that critics had taken his comments out of context.
Christmas had some words of praise for Kunneman, whose own prophecies have, to be charitable, a decidedly mixed track record:
"The prophetic word of the Lord that has been released the last few years has been like a hammer [against] this dome of evil, this iron dome of evil and wickedness that's been over this nation. Pastor Hank, every time you stood, you released the word of the Lord. And you can't see it, but there are spider cracks in this dome of evil and wickedness that's over this nation. And I declare to you, I don't know when it's going to happen, but it's one service, one message, one prophecy—it's going to be the last blow. And when it breaks, hallelujah, Heaven is going to begin to open. And the majesty of God is going to begin to be released over this nation!
And God said, "I will not give this nation back to evil. I'll not give it back to transgenders. I'll not give it to the atheists. I'll not give it to the Muslims." Hallelujah! This nation is getting ready to walk back in to apostolic, tongue talking, Holy Ghost, filled of the Spirit of the Lord! And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty!"
Christmas has not always been on the money, either. In July 2021, he said that “if Donald Trump is not back in the office by the end of this year, I’m going to be shocked.” In 2022, he lashed out against people who say he’s a false prophet because he prophesied that Trump would be reelected, saying, “In the eyes of God and the court of Heaven today, the president of the United States is Donald J. Trump."
Christmas told Shultz, "I believe we're gonna see the pendulum go the other way and we're gonna go from this weird, bizarre stuff, socialism, and all of this, and we're gonna have a season where God is gonna rule and reign in our country."
Christmas also quoted God saying that the revival event would leave a “residue” in the Ryman Auditorium that would stymie future comedians who try to perform their normal set.
