Rick Joyner, a MAGA-aligned “prophet” and “apostle” associated with the dominionist New Apostolic Reformation movement, used his first “Rick's Rant” video of 2026 to praise President Donald Trump’s authoritarianism as a gift from God, call ICE agents’ actions heroic, and say that public officials who are “fomenting rebellion” should be put in jail.
In the video posted Tuesday, Joyner also predicted that the U.S. is headed for civil war, a regular feature of his “prophetic” messages. This time, he said, the outcome will be “different and better” than the U.S. Civil War, “not because the rebellious side is going to win but because we’re going to fight for higher issues.”
Joyner praised Trump’s “decisive” authoritarianism, saying “we need it desperately” and claiming that “God has given it to us.”
“I’m really, really excited about how things are going,” Joyner said, but he complained about how ICE agents are being treated. He called the killing of Renee Good “tragic,” but said ICE agents are doing their jobs well in the face of “illegal opposition.” Like many right-wing pundits, he claimed without evidence that many of the people protesting ICE brutality are being paid to do so.
And like many right-wing pundits who have spent their careers defending “states’ rights” and decrying federal government “overreach,” Joyner is singing a different tune when it comes to Trump deploying the military against American citizens and cities.
“Every one of those elected officials or appointed officials that are fomenting this rebellion against federal law, declaring it doesn’t apply to them, by obstructing and harboring fugitives, they should all go to jail,” he said.
Joyner’s MorningStar Ministries has been plagued with scandal in recent years. In this week’s video he made a vague reference to recent difficulties but said God had told him he would be leading the ministry for a good while yet. Joyner also founded the dominionist Oak Initiative, whose board members include Family Research Council Vice President Jerry Boykin, Seven Mountains promoter Lance Wallnau, and “prophet” Cindy Jacobs.
