Last week, virulently antisemitic, deeply misogynistic, and manifestly racist theocratic fascist Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon appeared on "The Backlash" program, where he called for "millions and millions" of non-white people to be deported from America and then for white people to re-colonize and Christianize Africa.
Webbon's statement came on the heels of similar comments made by far-right Christian nationalist pastor Dale Partridge, which is not surprising given that the two men are closely aligned. During a lengthy discussion with virulent antisemite Dave Reilly, Webbon laid out his belief in "race realism"—which, in his case, is just a modern euphemism for scientific racism—and the idea that God intentionally created distinctions among the races.
"It's not just good for white people, it's not just good for the West, I believe that Christianity is good for the world," Webbon declared. "The very best that some African nations have ever done is when they're colonized by white Christians."
"I'm not saying that all of colonization was without error because people sin," he continued. "White people sin, black people sin, Christians sin, sadly—we're still sinners saved by grace—and so there were some atrocities that were committed. I'm not saying that it was all just, but there was a lot of good also and we threw out the baby with the bathwater."
"You want Africa to succeed? So do I," Webbon said. "You know what Africa has proven for thousands of years now? They need someone to hold their hand. They do. And I'm not trying to disparage them. They're made in the image of God. They are human beings—I think it is atrocious and wrong; I will not buy into subhuman rhetoric. Not doing that—they're human beings made in the image of God, but they are behind drastically and what they need is a helping hand."
"They don't need to be sent on boats and planes by millions and millions to the West," Webbon asserted. "What they do need is to actually be sent by boats and planes out of the West for us to get our own house in order. The Bible talks about this: Get your own house in order first. [There would be] immense prosperity. We would be so rich, it'd be insane. It would be insane. And then what you do is you send doctors, medics, engineers, politicians to go and settle African nations and say, 'We are here to help you. We're going to teach you medicine. We're going to teach you this, we're going to help you build a society and we're also going to catechize you and teach you Christ. And if you try to harm anyone, we'll kill you. But we love you."
In 2023, Webbon was among the contributors to a document called “The Statement on Christian Nationalism and the Gospel.” Drafted by Christian nationalists like Oklahoma state Sen. Dusty Deevers, former Trump administration official William Wolfe, and others, the document declared that the United States must formally “acknowledge the Lordship of Christ” in all its laws, “abolish abortion,” outlaw marriage equality, and “recapture our national sovereignty from godless, global entities who present a grave threat to civilization.” Wolfe, for his part, was a close associate of OMB Director Russ Vought, a proponent of Christian nationalism who declared his desire to put federal bureaucrats "in trauma."
