Last week, President Donald Trump ramped up his trade war with Canada by signing an executive order changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. The move was utterly ridiculous, but of course the MAGA movement ate it up, resulting in genuinely unhinged displays like the one put on by right-wing activist Brigitte Gabriel during her appearance on the "FlashPoint" program Thursday evening.
"We're loving him doing this," Gabriel gushed. "How can you be a patriotic American and not love this? This is what leadership looks like. This is what authority looks like. This is how nations become great."
"People treat you the way you allow them to treat you," she continued. "Previous leaders allowed other countries to walk all over us. President Trump came in and said, 'We're gonna be the greatest country on the face of the planet. We're gonna make America great again. We're gonna make the world take our name because it is the greatest name on the face of the planet.'"
"The first thought that came to my mind when I watched this today: God, I love this president. Why can't we keep him for a lifetime?" Gabriel added. "Can you imagine how America would look like if President Trump—like President Xi, we're not talking about he's going to be a dictator or be in power for 30 years—but just imagine how incredible America and the rest of the world would be like if this president was able to serve until he took his last breath. He is setting the standard of what leadership, what American leadership should be like, and this is the standard that we should measure. Anybody running for president [will be judged] by Trump's standard, because if they don't behave like him, talk like him, have his boldness, have his authority, speak with such passion, speak with such love, they are not worthy of sitting at the White House."
