Trump just fired Pam Bondi

Donald Trump just fired Attorney General Pam Bondi.[1]

Reportedly the firing came because Trump was frustrated that she had not gone far enough in using the Department of Justice to target his political opponents and carry out the kind of retribution campaigns he wants.

Let’s be clear about what this means. The President of the United States just removed the nation’s top law enforcement official because she was not aggressive enough in pursuing investigations against his perceived political enemies. That is not how the Department of Justice is supposed to function. It is supposed to enforce the law, not serve as a tool for revenge.

Now, Trump is actively considering a replacement, including allies like Lee Zeldin, who would no doubt carry out Trump’s agenda of retribution without limit. It is the direction Trump himself has been signaling for months as he has grown more vocal about wanting prosecutions that serve his political interests.

Trump is making his agenda abundantly clear. Pressure to pursue weak or unsupported cases. Frustration when career prosecutors refuse to go along. Attempts to bend the Department toward political ends. And now, a firing that sends a clear message to anyone who remains: loyalty to Trump comes before the Constitution of the United States.

That is exactly how democratic institutions are hollowed out. Not all at once, but piece by piece, until the guardrails are gone.

We know what comes next. A nomination process that will likely be rushed. A candidate framed as “strong” or “tough” but selected for one reason above all else: their willingness to pursue Trump’s campaign of retribution.

And we also know this: public pressure still matters. Senate votes are not automatic. Nominations can be challenged. Narratives can be shaped. But only if we have the resources to act immediately and at scale.

So this is the moment to step in.

The Department of Justice is already being bent toward Trump’s political agenda. What happens next will determine how far he can take it.

Thanks for being part of this fight.
