The Senate is back in session, and Trump’s judicial nominees are already moving.
Some are ready for a confirmation vote on the Senate floor. Others could advance out of committee shortly. Still more will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee for nomination hearings.
At every stage, our demand must remain clear: no more Trump judges.
Trump is not looking for fair-minded judges committed to equal justice under law. He is looking for collaborators who will protect his power, advance the far-right MAGA agenda, and dismantle our rights from the bench.
The record from this summer alone makes clear what confirming more Trump judges would mean for our rights and freedoms.
During July and August, Trump judges issued at least 25 decisions harming people’s rights. They attacked immigrants’ rights, workers’ rights, LGBTQ+ equality, gun safety, and protections against police misconduct. They also helped clear the way for Trump’s administration to pursue new restrictions on voting by mail.[1]
One court overturned New Jersey’s assault weapons ban. Another denied asylum to a gay Russian man despite evidence that he could face persecution. Other Trump judges shielded officials accused of excessive force, weakened protections for workers, and allowed the Trump Justice Department to target a provider of gender-affirming care.[ibid]
These are not isolated decisions. They are the predictable result of giving Trump and the Far Right lifetime control over our federal courts.
The judges confirmed today will be in a position to uphold Trump’s attacks on our rights and liberties. And even once Trump leaves office, they’ll still be where he put them, where they will spend decades stripping away our freedoms. Senators who claim to defend our rights cannot quietly allow these nominees to advance. They must fight them in committee, oppose them on the floor, and force the public to see exactly what is at stake.
We cannot let Trump fill the federal bench with more collaborators.
