Washington, DC – In anticipation of upcoming events over the weekend, including ongoing protests over ICE detainments, the series of planned “No Kings” rallies taking place around the country, and President Trump’s military parade in Washington, DC, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“President Trump is trying to turn our government into his personal weapon against anyone who disagrees with him. He is unleashing violence against people who are peacefully defending their families, their communities, and our freedom. He is undermining constitutional checks and balances so that he can rule like a king with the power to impose his will on all of us.
This weekend, while Trump glorifies himself with a military parade, millions of Americans in big cities and small towns in every state will come together to affirm that we are subjects to No Kings. This is patriotism in action.”
