The Senate Judiciary Committee voted along party lines Tuesday to advance the nomination of Trump Attorney Todd Blanche as U.S. Attorney General. People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
It is shameful that every Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the nomination of the manifestly corrupt Todd Blanche to be U.S. Attorney General. The evidence is clear: Todd Blanche has abused his power to mock the rule of law, enrich Donald Trump, and betray the American people.
Todd Blanche is everything an attorney general should not be. He has demonstrated that his loyalty is to Donald Trump, not the Constitution. Any senator who votes for his confirmation dishonors their office and betrays their oath.
We call on Republicans and Democrats to defeat Blanche’s nomination on the Senate floor.
