Washington, DC – Following a series of Democratic victories across the country, including the election of Zohran Mamdani for Mayor of New York City, Mikie Sherrill for Governor of New Jersey, Abigail Spanberger for Governor of Virginia, as well as the passing of Proposition 50 in California, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Voters across the country have rejected the MAGA agenda. The American people chose hope over hate, progress over fear. From Zohran Mamdani’s vision-fueled victory in New York to historic wins in New Jersey, Virginia, California, and everywhere else, Americans have shown that by working together we can attain a future for all of us. In the midst of the Republican shutdown and the shocking cruelty from Trump and his bullies, the people said: Enough. We will not bow down.
Together we showed that energized and organized people can overcome the money and manipulations of a corrupt, power-abusing regime. We must build on these victories and work toward a future in which all of us, not just the privileged and powerful, can thrive.”
