Washington DC – As part of its ongoing effort to support and uplift progressive candidates around the country, People For the American Way has begun our effort to support candidates fighting for our values in key races across the nation. The candidates represent the progressive values on which People For was founded.
Ahead of November, People For will rally our members to get active in dozens of critical yet often overlooked races where the national fight for freedom, justice, and democracy hangs in the balance. We are proud to start that effort today with the announcement of the following slates and endorsees:
People For Virginia: Virginia is a perpetual battleground in the off-year, and the stakes in 2025 could not be higher. Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) has spent nearly four years advancing dangerous campaigns against the freedom to learn, reproductive rights, and the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans – with the worst impacts avoided only because of a narrow progressive majority in the state legislature. We’ll continue to protect Virginia for all the people.

Front Line Mayors: Bold progressive mayors have been standing up to Trump’s brazen attacks on our rights and making their cities a counternarrative to the division and dysfunction of Washington. These leaders at the local level are needed now more than ever.
