Washington, DC – Following the announcement that Ed Martin will no longer be Trump’s nominee for US Attorney for Washington, DC, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“The withdrawal of Ed Martin’s nomination to be U.S. Attorney for Washington is a win for the American people. He has held the position on an interim basis since January 20 and, even without Senate confirmation, he has left a trail of destruction and intimidation in his wake. Americans saw that Ed Martin was not representing our interests. We saw that he did not meet the standards we expect of people nominated to have the power of a federal prosecutor. And – critically – we made sure our senators knew it. The withdrawal of this nomination proves that patriotic activism works, and that we must remain vigilant as Trump continues to nominate to federal positions those who would undermine the rule of law, our constitution, and the best interests of the American people."
