A Phony Outrage

Former FBI Director James Comey has provoked an outcry from the Trump administration after he briefly posted a photo to Instagram that federal officials alleged was a call for violence against President Trump — a claim Comey pushed back on.

Comey deleted the post within hours, and wrote in a follow-up statement on Instagram: “I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message. I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down.”

White Christian nationalist Wesley Todd devoted a May 14, 2025 livestream for Right Response Ministries to criticizing the Talmud and Judaism as a whole. Following in the footsteps of other antisemites, like Dan Bilzerian, Todd recited out-of-context quotes from it before denouncing Jews as the “enemy” of Christians.

Ed Martin is leading a Trump effort tasked with investigating Jan. 6 prosecutors. His nonprofit supported dozens of violent Jan. 6 defendants, Rolling Stone has found.

Russell Vought is advancing a radical ideological project decades in the making.

Jokes about Republicans being in “disarray” are easy, but sometimes, they’re correct. Take the GOP's failure in the House Budget Committee, for example.
