Washington, DC – In response to the confirmation of Emil Bove to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“The confirmation of Trump’s former personal defense attorney Emil Bove to the federal bench marks another low point in this administration’s effort to fill the courts with collaborators instead of qualified judges who will work on behalf of the American people. Despite a historic level of opposition that spans the ideological spectrum, Senate Republicans have pushed through a nominee who will serve Donald Trump and Donald Trump alone.
A president who has repeatedly ignored court orders and even threatened judges who rule against him must not be allowed to stack the courts with collaborators, especially those as dangerous as Emil Bove. We condemn this confirmation and Senate Republicans’ adamant refusal to consider relevant whistleblower information. Americans will remember how their senators voted on this tragic day.”
