Washington, DC – In response to Trump’s social media post stating he plans to nominate Whitney Hermandorfer of the TN Attorney General’s office to be a judge on the Sixth Circuit, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following stagement:
“In his first 100 days, President Trump has shown a dangerous and unprecedented contempt for the rule of law. He is defying the courts. He and his allies have called for the removal of judges who rule against him. With a Republican-controlled Congress currently doing nothing to protect our democracy, it's up to the courts to preserve the critical checks and balances and keep us free. Until Trump fully reverses course and recognizes that he is not a king, we cannot allow him to put any lifetime judges on our federal courts.”
