Washington, DC – In response to the Senate Judiciary Committee pushing through the nomination of Emil Bove after the Republicans violated Committee rules over the strenuous objections of Democrats on the Committee, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Emil Bove represents exactly the kind of Trump collaborator we cannot allow on the federal bench. He’s made clear where his loyalty lies, and it’s only to Trump. A president who flouts the law, openly defies court orders, and threatens judges must not be allowed to stack our federal courts with judges who will do his bidding.
Bove’s nomination has sparked intense opposition among progressives and conservatives alike, including former judges and Justice Department officials. But committee Republicans have an audience of one: their master, Donald Trump. We now call on all Senators to vote no on Bove’s confirmation and show that they serve the American people, not Donald Trump.”
