Earlier this month, People For’ the American Way Foundation’s Young Elected Officials Network celebrated its 20th anniversary with a convening in Washington DC. Bringing together more than 150 elected officials from around the country, as well as thought-provoking speakers and panelists, the convening delivered an exciting four days of programming. Attendees participated in a variety of informative panel discussions, fireside chats, and info sessions on topics relevant to the current policy environment.

Insightful sessions

From communications trends and tactics to standing up for equal rights, sessions at the convening focused on skills young electeds need to be effective leaders. Sessions were led by experts in key issue areas and gave electeds the opportunity to choose their path throughout the convening, learning and exploring topics of interest to them.

Valuable networking

Elected officials from across the country connected with one another through discussion opportunities and social events. Electeds shared their knowledge and experience with each other, building beneficial relationships for years to come.

Inspiring stories

We heard from incredible leaders, including YEOs, former YEOs, celebrity voices, and many more. Sharing uplifting stories of successes in elected office and emotional tales of overcoming adversity showed the importance of joining together in community and building a network of like-minded individuals fighting for a better future.
